About the troupe
Founded by the late Kelantanese master puppeteer Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollah Baju Merah, 1937–2005), Kumpulan Wayang Kulit Sri Warisan Pusaka is one of Malaysia’s leading Wayang Kulit Kelantan troupes, renowned for its founder’s dexterity, subtle puppet manipulation, and boldly irreverent storytelling. The troupe is now led by two of his senior disciples: master puppeteer Tok Dalang Nawi and lead musician Abdul Rahman bin Dollah. It performs throughout Kelantan and on national and international stages. In 2015, the troupe completed a month-long residency tour in the United States through Arts Midwest’s Caravanserai programme. It also plays an active role in PUSAKA’s community instruction projects, transmitting the interconnected skills of puppet manipulation, storytelling, music, and ritual practice. By preserving the tradition as an integrated practice rather than focusing on performance alone, the troupe carries Dollah Baju Merah’s artistic lineage into a new generation of Kelantanese practitioners.
